Things are about to get ugly between ZeniMax and Oculus.
Last week, ZeniMax claimed that Oculus VR used its intellectual property and technology for the Oculus Rift VR headset when John Carmack was employed at id Software. Oculus denied ZeniMax's claim at the time and now they have expanded further with a new response today.
In today's response, Oculus VR reaffirms that it did not use any code from ZeniMax in the development of its Oculus products. It also reveals that Carmack left id and its parent company ZeniMax because his former employer prevented him from working on VR. Additionally, ZeniMax cancelled development for Doom 3 VR support when "Oculus refused Zenimax's demands for a non-dilutable equity stake in Oculus."
